Just before Easter the pine trees start the new growth as the tallest branch shoots forth it forms the shape of a cross. And it all happens just around Easter Sunday..Look up at the Pine trees, you will see the tree is covered with crosses.
I recently read a beautiful story of the pine trees.
Last April on a Sunday, we took one of our "nowhere" drives. My husband was quietly driving a back road and I was occupied in the front passenger seat watching the scenery.
I noticed out of the corner of my eye that my husband was straining to look out my window. This startled me, since his eyes should be on the road in front of him. I asked him what he was looking at out the windows, and he quietly replied, "Nothing." His eyes went back to the road in front of him.
After a few minutes, I looked over at my husband and noticed a tear running down his cheek. I asked him what was wrong. This time he told me, "I was just thinking about Pop and a story he had once told me." Of course, because it had to do with his Pop, I wanted to know the story, so I asked him to share it with me.

Crushed egg shells are always great in the garden soil or the compost bin.
But these little cuties are really useful. Although the instructions for these are to use them to plant wheat grass for seasonal decorating in a sun room etc are really sweet and cute..I think they would be great for any small starter seeds. Simply give them a little squeeze to crush the shell and them plop them right into your garden bed or pot of soil.

The days are longer, the weather somewhat warmer, the birds, bees and butterflies are out and about.
I think spring is the most favored time of the year. The weather is not quite so cold, but yet not to hot.
Spring begins this coming Friday.
I love everything about spring, it brings sunshine, green grass, flowers, new life and Easter.
What's not to love about it ?
What is your favorite season?
Please leave a comment I would love to hear from you!
Spring is just around the corner and I am ready to start digging in the dirt.
I will be planting my tomatoes this week. I am hoping to have enough tomatoes this year to be able to can some Pasta sauce .
This year I am making sure that I plant only Heirloom tomatoes . No hybrid varieties for me.
I will be planting the following:
Heinz Classic Heirloom
German Johnson Heirloom
Black Kim Heirloom
Heirloom tomatoes come from seeds that have been passed down from generation to generation.
Hybrid tomatoes on the other hand have been created for commercialization by cross breeding using two different tomatoes...
